The Risk Management function sits behind the scenes of the event planning process. This is a vital part of identifying event risks as organisers plan their event and provides the organiser with the means to mitigate those identified risks.  This helps to ensure student safety while taking part in the event.

Risks can be reviewed, edited, or added by key school staff, such as Occupational Health and Safety members, Compliance & Risk officers, or members of the admin team who review excursions to ensure they comply with school and Education Department policies.

There are two risk categories included in Consent2Go:

  • Activity Risks - are those that relate to a specific activity, such as horse-riding, abseiling or a museum visit.
  • Event Risks - identify the risks surrounding the activity, like transport risks, protective behaviors or first aid management.

Viewing the Risks

To view the Risk Management tabs; click on the cogwheel, then select 'System Settings' and then choose either Activity or Event risks.

Activity Risks

The Activity Risks tab displays each a comprehensive list of activities that Consent2Go has identified. If there are activities that your school uses that do not appear in this list. You can add new ones. However, we recommend this is done in consultation with the compliance and risk staff within the school. From this list you can see the:

  • Category, Type & Details
  • The High Risk identifier
  • The Status

If the switch is toggled to grey in the Enabled column, it means this activity is not available for selection by event organising staff.

By clicking the drop-down arrow to the left of each activity, you can see an overview of the activity, which includes the:

  • Category, Type & Details
  • If it's High Risk or Water based
  • Any Student & Staff Skills Required
  • Any Student & Staff Equipment
  • The Student to Staff Ratio

You can also see an overview of the Risk Settings which include:

  • The Rating, Likelihood or Consequence
  • Consent2Go's Risk Management Document
  • Risk Management
These risks can be edited, by choosing the edit button at the base of the risk detail window.

Event Risks

The Event Risks are laid out similarly to Activity risks, from this tab you can view the:

  • Category
  • Type
  • Rating
  • Status in the school

Each tab can be expanded to view the details in the same way as the Activity Risks. Event Risks show:

  • The event type it is active for
  • Likelihood
  • Consequence
  • Document
  • Risk Management

Event Risks have guidelines to provide risk mitigation ideas for event organisers, and statements that the organisers will need to review and agree to before submitting their event plans for approval.

Schools cannot add to event risk options but can disable those event risks that do not apply to their school’s situation.
