This guide provides you with the steps on how you can send messages as an SMS
Your user role must have permission to ‘Send SMS’. If the below options don’t display, contact your school admin team to review your access.
Overview
There are 5 areas in the system that a message can be sent:
- Student List
- Staff List
- Teams
- Student Groups
- Within an Event
How to Send an SMS
In the first 4 areas, there will be a ‘Send Message‘ button.
Clicking this will open the messaging feature and allow you to draft your communication. Towards the top right of this box, you will see a toggle for ‘Send as: Email/SMS’. Selecting SMS will hide the subject line and will then send as a text, rather than an email.
There will also be a ‘Preview’ button for you to view what this will look once sent.
Within an Event
Within an active event, in the 5. Attendance tab, there will be a ‘Message’ button. This will drop down two options for use; Send Message & Send Reminder. Both of these options can utilise the SMS functionality. The Send Message option function in the same way as above. In addition, clicking ‘Send Reminder’ will prompt you with the choice of sending reminders via SMS instead of (or as well as) an Email:
SMS in Profile Updates or Permission Updates
As well as being able to send a message as an SMS, users also have the ability to send Profile Update or Permission Update invitations with an SMS reminder:
Viewing SMS in the Communication Log
All SMS sent via the school’s system can be seen within the Communication Log. Using the filters at the top of the page, you can choose ‘Select Type > SMS’ - which will filter out any email communication.
Note: You may see SMS in the Communication Log that relate to ‘Verification Codes’. These are system generated, and will not incur additional fees to the school.
